The Trip and the Itinerary:
So I just got back from traveling all over the African Great Lakes Region and I realized that I have logged some serious bus hours. Here’s a quick overview of the itinerary I just completed with places names and bus-driving hours.
Thursday, July 16: Gulu, Uganda to Kampala, Uganda (5 Hours)
Friday, July 17: Kampala, Uganda to Kigali, Rwanda (11 Hours)
Saturday, July 18: Kigali, Rwanda to Kisenyi, Rwanda (3.5 Hours)
Sunday, July 19: Kisenyi, Rwanda to Kigali, Rwanda (2.5 Hours)
Monday, July 20: Kigali, Rwanda to Bujumbura, Burundi (7 Hours)
Wednesday, July 22: Bujumbura, Burundi to Kigali, Rwanda (7 Hours)
Friday, July 24: Kigali, Rwanda to Kampala, Uganda (11 Hours); Kampala, Uganda to Jinja, Uganda (2.5 Hours)
Sunday, July 26: Jinja, Uganda to Kampala, Uganda (2.5 Hours) Kampala, Uganda to Gulu, Uganda (5 Hours)
So, add it all up and what do you get?
10 days and 57 hours on the bus. That’s a lot of hours. Totally worth it.
