Sister Margaret Aceng, Founder and Director of Caritas Counseling Center in Gulu, Uganda
I spent the morning with Sister Margaret learning about Caritas and about Gulu in general. The center provides support and counseling to people in Gulu district who have been traumatized by the government’s war with the Lord’s Resistance Army. Caritas counsels ex-rebels, former child soldiers, parents of abducted children, and anyone who has been affected by the unimaginable violence that has taken place in Northern Uganda over the last 20 years.
Sister Margaret left me with this: “God doesn’t do things for nothing, but we must work together. The way to a bright future is the stopping of the war.”
